A beautiful body of water that can be admired from the four kilometer long highway bridge that crosses it on the road from Mexico City to Morelia. 

The lake is home to fish such as: charal, catfish, carp and crappie. It is also the habitat of a large number of birds while its shores are covered by the tule aquatic flora and are home to frogs and migratory birds such as ducks, pelicans and swallows.
