It is about 13 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide at its maximum point, with a total surface area of 39,273 square kilometers.
It is characterized by its impressive rock formations and is ideal for those who enjoy observing flora, such as the enormous cacti known as "giant barrels," as well as fauna. One of the endemic species that inhabit the island is the rattlesnake without a rattle, which is exclusive to this Mexican island. It is also suitable for kayaking, snorkeling, and diving.
The crystal-clear waters surrounding it offer opportunities to observe bass, hawkfish, damselfish, pufferfish, angelfish, and some dolphins. It is located 25 km from the Baja California Peninsula.
