It is the largest island in the Gulf of California, it has a mountain range that runs along its entire length and reaches heights greater than 1,315 meters above sea level.
You can only visit the eastern side, there is a small bay with pleasant beaches and wonderful landscapes; from the western side it is practically inaccessible due to the great cliffs and steep walls.
What is special about Angel de la Guarda Island ?
The island is the habitat of large colonies of sea lions that are distributed in two colonies, Los Cantiles in the extreme northeast and Los Machos in the middle part of the west coast.
This is an ideal place for nature lovers, as it has some endemic species such as the collared lizard and the spotted rattlesnake. Additionally, there is a great variety of birds, including hummingbirds, owls, ospreys, booby birds and pelicans.
It is located in the Gulf of California just 33 km east of Bahía de los Ángeles and is separated from the peninsula by the Canal de Ballenas, named for the constant presence of these impressive cetaceans during the winter months. In this area it is also common to observe groups of dolphins and some turtles.
