It is one of the most beautiful and unique cenotes for diving in the entire Yucatan Peninsula. It has an oval shape with a 10-meter-wide opening.
The main attraction of the cenote is the beautiful rays of light that illuminate the crystal-clear waters of the cave, especially on sunny days. The play of light extends to the depths, piercing through the halocline and acidic cloud layers.
Around 12 to 20 meters deep, where fresh and saltwater meet, the visibility becomes very interesting due to the way the light beams separate in different ways as the waters meet. You may have some difficulties taking photographs when you are actually within this layer, as camera lenses don't seem to handle the effect well.
At around 27 meters deep, there is a hydrogen sulfide layer with a thickness of 2 to 4 meters, resembling a mist rising above the collapsed opening rocks stacked on the bottom and some tree branches.
The maximum depth of the cenote is 121 meters, and there are multiple passages leading to other chambers, although these explorations are only for experienced divers.
