This architectural complex dates back to the 16th century.
Construction began in 1569 under the supervision of Franciscan friars.
On the façade of this church, you can see the three saints to whom this construction is dedicated: San Antonio de Padua, San Simón, and San Judas. Additionally, there are several decorative elements from the native culture, as well as some Gothic-style roses.
The two towers have three levels, with the northern one being the original and the other one built between 1940 and 1942. Both are decorated with Baroque motifs and Solomonian columns.
The modified nave once had a barrel vault, but it was destroyed in a fire in 1915, and a flat brick vault was constructed instead. This also resulted in the loss of all the treasures it housed. However, the current neoclassical altarpiece closely resembles the one that existed before the incident, as it had been modified in the late 18th century.
The cloister still retains paintings representing various saints and other elements typical of the Franciscan order.
