This building, dating back to 1696, was part of the residence of the Marquis of Sierra Nevada during colonial times.
It was rebuilt in 1714 due to a strong earthquake.
It wasn't until the early 19th century that it was fully consecrated for worship and became a beautiful church.
In 1997, the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Faculty of Architecture renovated the vaults of the church.
