Templo de las Monjas (Sagrario Metropolitano)

The Metropolitan Tabernacle is a Baroque building constructed between 1729 and 1737, dedicated to Santa Catalina de Siena.

The people called it "Las Monjas" because it belonged to the Order of the Catarinas, who moved from Las Rosas to this building in 1738. This was a significant event in which the majority of the population participated, as reflected in an oil painting on display in the Regional Michoacano Museum.

On its facade and tower, decorative elements typical of the Baroque style can be appreciated, with fluted pilasters and sculptures of Santo Domingo and Santa Catalina de Siena in its niches.

Inside the temple, there is a Christ made of maize cane and orchids dating back to the time of Vasco de Quiroga.
