Templo de la Inmaculada Concepción (Las Monjas)
This majestic convent is also known as Las Monjas.
It was built in 1775 at the initiative of Doña María Josefina Lina de la Canal y Hervás.
The construction of the church was completed in 1842, and the monumental dome was added in 1891. The dome rests on an ornate octagonal drum adorned with Corinthian columns at the base.
Inside the temple, you can admire the artwork of Miguel Cabrera and other artists such as Juan Rodríguez Juárez and Miguel Antonio Martínez de Pocasangre, the author of the marvelous murals at the Sanctuary of Atotonilco.
