Its construction was completed in 1878 and was carried out by the Franciscan order. 

The building showcases architectural styles from various eras. The facade displays an austere Baroque style, while the interior combines neogothic in the main altar and neoclassical in the side altarpieces. The main altarpiece features a statue of Our Lady of Solitude.

Inside the sanctuary, there are 24 religious artworks dating back to the colonial period. 

The interior boasts an elegant dome with a double row of windows. Upon entering, you can observe the Latin cross, ribbed vaults, arches, and intricately carved moldings, as well as thick fluted columns made of quarry stone. 

It is a beautiful church that has opened its doors to cultural events such as concerts by the State Philharmonic Orchestra.
