The current building dates back to the second half of the 18th century.
It was built on top of a 16th-century structure with a Plateresque-style facade.
Inside, its dome resembles that of the Puebla Cathedral, and its main altarpiece dedicated to Santa Inés is a Salomonic Baroque style elaborated in wood. It is considered one of the most beautiful Baroque altarpieces in the state, combining vegetal elements and angels.
Another treasure preserved in the church is a single-piece holy water font made of basalt stone, dating from the 17th century.
