The ancient Chapel of the Indians was established here in 1528.
The chapel was funded by the four caciques (indigenous leaders) of the former Republic of Tlaxcala.
On the north side of the Palace of Justice, you'll find the Ancient Royal Inn of the Indigenous Government, built in 1551 to accommodate distinguished visitors.
This chapel was remodeled in the late 17th century to give it its current appearance. The facade is in a stilted Baroque style.
At the bottom, you can distinguish some elements of the original construction, such as a pair of shields of Charles I of Spain and V of Germany carved in stone.
