Museo Casa del Mendrugo
The museum exhibits several colections:
A pre-Hispanic collection that displays a burial related to the Olmec culture, discovered in 2010 during excavations carried out for the restoration of the house. This burial dates back to the Preclassic period (1500 BC - 300 AD) and includes ceramic fragments and skeletal remains of at least three individuals.
In 2009, deposits of fragments of common-use ceramics and pottery were also found in the courtyard floor of the property, which were used by the house's inhabitants over the centuries.
Additionally, there is a collection related to the Mixtec-Zapotec culture of Oaxaca, donated by Jorge Roberto Ortíz-Dietz. This exhibition consists of intentionally deformed human skulls, giant trumpet shells, limestone lintels, and jambs, among others.
The museum also houses a restaurant, a café, a jazz club, and a gallery of indigenous and contemporary art.
