Misión de San Juan Bautista Ligüí-Malibat
This mission was founded by the Jesuits Juan María Salvatierra and Pedro de Ugarte in 1705.
It was located approximately 28 km south of the Mission of Our Lady of Loreto.
The construction was overseen by Father Pedro Ugarte and took him five years to complete the mission. Initially, it was managed by Father Francisco Peralta and later passed into the hands of Father Clemente Guillén, who distinguished himself as the designer of the first road to the Bay of La Paz.
In 1721, Father Pedro Ugarte, the builder and founder of the Mission, closed it down.
Currently, there are no ruins of the Mission remaining; everything was destroyed by rain and erosion over time.
Location
It is located in the Rancho de Lugüi, 35 km south of Loreto, B.C.S.
