The Arches were built around 1690.
They were constructed to demarcate the central nucleus of the capital and establish a difference from the neighborhoods where the natives lived.
It is worth admiring the arches located on Calle 61, Calle 63, and Calle 64, the "San Juan" arch on Calle 61, the "Dragones" arch on Calle 63, and the "X-Cul Arco" arch.
These arches were built by the military engineer Manuel de Zezera.
