The temple has a clear Franciscan style.
The church began construction in the late 16th century and was completed in 1620.
For a long time, its atrium functioned as a cemetery, and later it became a church for mulattoes and slaves.
In the 1950s, the renowned painter Torre Gamboa created a mural depicting the martyrdom of Saint Lucia.
The facade is elegant, with a rectangular entrance framed in quarry stone, stained glass, and a bell gable.
