This temple was completed and dedicated in 1642.

Subsequently, it underwent significant transformations throughout the 18th century, mainly due to two strong earthquakes. The first one in 1667 deteriorated it to the point that buttresses and reinforcements had to be added to the wall facing the street. The second one in 1711 also caused considerable damage.

The temple's highlight is its beautiful semispherical dome, adorned with lanterns and four ribs, covered in tiles.

Since the first half of the 19th century, it has preserved the famous image of San Antonio in one of its altars, which helps its devotees find love.

The cloister has been preserved and currently functions as a school.

Along 6 Oriente Street and other nearby streets, you can find various sweet shops, some of which carry on the tradition of the Clarisas.
