Previously, a hermitage dedicated to St. John was located in this place.
The residents had promised St. John that if the threat of locusts subsided, they would build a temple, and they did so.
The current temple was built between 1769 and 1770. At the back, there is a sacristy and a space where travelers visiting the city used to stay.
Inside, the highlight is the "La Negrita" fountain, brought from Paris in the early 20th century.
In front, there is a pleasant park with benches to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the city.
