San Juan de Dios Hospital
In 1725, the hospital was built by the Juaninos, a religious order established in Pachuca by authorization of the Viceroy Marquis of Casa Fuerte.
As part of the complex, the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe was also built.
Here, care was provided to the sick, and later, after the Reform Laws between 1864 and 1867, it served as a barracks for the invading French forces.
In 1869, it was designated for use by the Literary Institute and School of Arts and Crafts, and in the 1920s, it was transformed into the University of Hidalgo. It is currently occupied by the La Garza University Cultural Center.
On the facade, you can see three semicircular arches, depressed arches, and a tower on the upper right with horseshoe arches.
Currently, the La Garza University Cultural Center occupies the space where exhibitions and workshops are held in some of its rooms. It also has an auditorium and a beautiful garden.
