Templo del Sagrario
This is one of the most significant buildings in the entire Magic Town due to its majestic architecture reminiscent of a fortress.
It was founded by Vasco de Quiroga in 1540 as the Hospital of Santa Marta, and it was he who requested the creation of a virgin using the technique of cornstalk paste. The image was consecrated and named the Virgin of Health. This image remained in the Sanctuary until 1908 when it was moved to the Basilica of Pátzcuaro.
The construction of the Sanctuary began in 1603, and over the years, various decorative elements were added, which can still be appreciated today.
In the surrounding grounds, the Catarina nuns erected their convent, now known as the House of Eleven Patios.
It is distinguished by its exterior arcade that makes up its outer wall, however, inside it has an altar that is a baroque jewel.
