The monastery was built between 1564 and 1585.
In front of it, there is a small plaza that must have been the center of the town.
This temple is also known as "del Padre Jesús." The convent is divided into a lower and upper cloister. In the lower cloister, two buttresses frame its austere facade, where only a side chapel stands out.
The upper cloister features pointed arches on Tuscan columns on the first and second levels. The corridor walls have neoclassical chapels and oil paintings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
The interior has a vaulted barrel-shaped ceiling decorated with golden floral motifs. It has neoclassical-style altars.
Among its treasures, there is a beautiful monolithic baptismal font with indigenous-inspired engravings.
