It is the oldest cathedral on the American continent.

It was built from 1556 to 1599 at the request of King Philip II.

It is a Renaissance construction with clear Moorish influence. Its only civil ornament is the Mexican national emblem of the colonial era.

The machinery of the enormous clock it displays was built in London in 1731 and told the time until 1871.

It has Baroque-style altarpieces, preserving within its walls memories of historical events and legends.

It is distinguished by its two large towers and an image of Christ that measures 7 meters and occupies the entire main altar.

Every Friday at 8:00 p.m., there is a Video Mapping projection on the Cathedral, accompanied by narration in twelve verses and music from the city choir.
