Its construction began in 1621.
It is characterized by two tall towers
The Cathedral features an eclectic style, combining Baroque and Neoclassical elements.
Inside, there is a beautiful altar covered in gold leaf. One of the peculiarities of the altar is that behind it, there is a small opening that is currently covered, but during colonial times, it led to tunnels that connected to different buildings in Córdoba. Additionally, the tabernacle is considered one of the most beautiful in the state.
Every Good Friday, the image of the Virgin of Solitude housed in the cathedral is part of a procession that parades through the main streets of the city. As a sign of respect, as the image passes by, houses turn off their lights.
It is located in front of the Plaza de Armas and is one of the buildings that embellishes the city center.
