The church dates back to 1736.
It was built at the initiative of Mrs. Gertrudis Baeza Padilla, who achieved her goal with her own resources and those of the local residents.
It has a Churrigueresque-style façade with decorative motifs in mortar depicting vegetation.
It is one of the few churches in the country dedicated to Saint Gertrudis.
