Construction began in response to a request from the town council in 1554, and by 1585, the convent was completed.
However, by that time, the church had not been finished, so the open chapel was used instead.
The temple is made of stone and adobe and has two twin towers with two levels topped with forged iron crosses.
The facade has two levels. The first level features a semicircular arched entrance, and the second level has two windows with a Gothic influence.
Currently, it is notable for its vibrant colors. Inside, beautiful altarpieces and some sacred art pieces belonging to the Franciscan order, the custodians of this complex, can be observed.
In the back, there is a pleasant park where visitors can enjoy the surroundings.
According to a local legend, tunnels connect the three temples in the underground beneath this temple, but it is a story that has not been proven.
