The Regional Museum of Guadalajara is located in a building that was the second seminary of San José, built between 1701 and 1758.

The colonial mansion itself is attractive with its baroque façade and a niche decorated with relief sculptures in the form of vegetation. During the War of Independence, it was used as a military barracks.

The museum displays various archaeological pieces as well as artworks by different artists, including notable paintings by Villalpando and José Ibarra. One of the rooms houses a mural by José Guadalupe Zuno dedicated to the conquest of Nueva Galicia by Nuño de Guzmán. The chapel that functioned in this old building can also be admired.

In the paleontology room, you can find the complete skeleton of a mammoth and a reproduction of a characteristic burial tomb from Western Mexico. In the ethnography room, there are utensils and photographs depicting the customs and traditions of indigenous peoples.
