The place has three bodies of water where the brown crocodile resides, which is why the place is also known as the Crocodile Sanctuary. 

Here, you can take canoe rides across the lagoons, go on bike rides, observe crocodiles at night, and take guided tours to Bonampak.

Facilities include stilt cabins nestled in the vegetation beside a stream that feeds into the Lacanjá River.

There is also the Chankin Food Center, a palapa where the local women prepare food.
