This has been the city's meeting center for 475 years.

It was built as a perfect square measuring 75 meters on each side and features the Fuente de la Santa Cruz (Fountain of the Holy Cross), donated by the King of Spain Felipe IV in 1646, and a beautiful kiosk built in the 19th century.

The square plays an important role during the Carnival festivities, as it is where all the groups gather after parading from different neighborhoods of the city and nearby municipalities.

It is where the parade concludes.
