Templo y Ex Convento de Santiago Apóstol de Jiutepec
The construction was initiated by the Franciscan order between 1525 and 1529 and features a simple façade.
This monastery was the sixth house of the Franciscans and was possibly founded in 1529, being completely finished ten years later. An earthquake destroyed the vaults in 1585, and they were not restored until the 17th century. In fact, to this day, part of the monastery's vaults remains destroyed.
Its atrium has been greatly altered, making it difficult to distinguish the processional path and the side chapels.
Inside the temple, two Baroque altarpieces and one Neoclassical altarpiece stand out.
In the cloister, remains of frescoes can be observed on its walls, along with a small fountain in the center.
