Templo y Ex Convento de San Miguel Arcángel de Tlaltizapán

A construction erected by the Dominicans in 1548 and completed in 1533.

It is characterized by strong walls topped with battlements. It has an atrium, and there are no longer any remnants of its side chapels.

The interior decoration is Neoclassical, with traces of mural paintings in some of its cells and four Neoclassical-style altarpieces.

Inside the temple of this convent, there is a Black Christ to which Emiliano Zapata was devoted.

The atrium stands out for the mausoleum that General Zapata had built for the high-ranking officers of his army and himself. Although his last wish was not fulfilled, and his remains rest in Cuautla, the bodies of many of his generals are located here.
