Templo y Ex Convento de San Agustín de Jonacatepec
This cultural heritage site was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1994.
Built in 1558 by the Augustinians, this ex-convent has the largest atrium in the state.
Inside, there are tombs attached to its walls and a high relief of San Agustín on the facade.
The interior stands out for its excellent woodwork, believed to be the work of one of the most outstanding artisans of the viceregal period, Master Higinio López de Zacualpan de Amilpas.
The two-story cloister is covered with barrel vaults and adorned with mural paintings reminiscent of those in the Zacualpan cloister.
