Templo de San Sebastián Chimalistac
A small 16th-century building consisting of three naves.
The exact date of its construction is uncertain, but it was first mentioned in 1553, although it was an open chapel.
At the end of the 18th century, it was roofed, and the tower and presbytery were added.
With the implementation of the Reform Laws in 1867, it was confiscated and abandoned.
In 1938, the residents of Chimalistac supported its reconstruction, and one of them discovered an extraordinary 18th-century altarpiece in the warehouses of the Churubusco Former Convent, which was added to the new temple. This Churrigueresque-style altarpiece is truly worthy of admiration.
