Very little is known about the origins of this temple.
Very little is known about the origins of this temple, but it is known that it was built during the 18th century.
In the mid-19th century, the temple was in very poor condition. Restoration work began between 1854 and 1855 but was interrupted due to the implementation of the Reform Laws. It was finally completed at the end of the 19th century. The facades and interior ornamentation correspond precisely to that time.
The earthquakes of 1928 and 1931 once again damaged the temple. It remained in poor condition for over half a century until it was finally restored in 1985. Restoration work is currently underway again, as the goal is to recover the second tower with its bell tower.
