The temple dates back to 1673.
The temple dates back to 1673 and represents a prime example of Puebla's Baroque architecture from the 17th century, known for its sobriety in the exteriors.
The main facade, built entirely of quarry stone, is of severe beauty and was constructed between 1670 and 1672. It features a niche with the image of the Immaculate Conception, carved in white Villerías stone.
Inside, only the high choir with its railing remains, showcasing an extraordinary decorative fan, considered one of the most beautiful in the country. It is made of gilded wood with white accents along the edges, displaying a clear Renaissance influence. In the center, there is a sun with the prominent shield of Bishop Escobar y Llamas, a benefactor of the monastery.
The altars and decorations date back to the 19th century.
