This church was built on top of the Great Pyramid.
That is why it is called Tlachihualtepetl (Handmade Hill).
Its construction began in 1594 as a hermitage. In the mid-19th century, a major earthquake destroyed it, and in 1874, the construction of the present-day temple with a neoclassical facade and two towers was completed.
Inside, you can admire a Baroque-style decoration, particularly notable is the vaulted dome covered with Talavera tiles and a beautiful image of the Virgin of Remedies.
To reach this church, you need to ascend a steep cobblestone path, and at the end, you will still have to climb 49 steps. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and bringing water. However, along the way, you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Puebla.
At the highest point, there is a viewpoint where you can take unforgettable photographs.
