Palacio del Conde del Valle de Súchil
The Palace of the Count of Valle de Suchil is one of the most splendid houses in northern Mexico, built in 1764.
It belonged to a wealthy miner named Joseph del Campo Soberón y Larrea, the Count of Valle de Suchil.
Its decoration is clearly Baroque, with beautiful details both on its facade and interiors.
Its beautiful facade showcases pilasters made of quarry stone, topped with beautiful cornices. In the first level, the door is framed by rectilinear pilasters, and in the second level, there is a balcony with a magnificent wrought-iron railing adorned with exquisite carved quarry work.
Inside, there is a first courtyard from where one can admire the hanging key arch, surrounded by arches and columns decorated with zigzagging grooves.
Some fragments of original mural paintings from the 18th century can still be observed, highlighting the mural on the staircase wall that connects the two courtyards. The carved wooden doors are also original.
Currently, the Palace of the Count of Valle de Suchil houses the Banamex Cultural Center, where various exhibitions and cultural activities take place.
