It has been located at its current address since 1936.Â
The central headquarters of the pawnshop was founded in 1775 during the administration of Viceroy Antonio MarÃa de Bucareli.Â
On this site, the "Casas Viejas de Moctezuma" (Old Houses of Moctezuma) were located, which Hernán Cortés reserved to build his palace.
Since the descendants of the conqueror lived in Europe, the inherited possessions were managed by a Governor who resided and administered those properties.Â
The building was reconstructed in 1758.Â
