Museo Nacional del Virreinato (National Museum of the Viceroyalty)
The National Museum of the Viceroyalty is located in the Old Jesuit College of San Francisco Javier in the Magical Town of Tepotzotlán.
The building has been completely restored and is a gem itself.
During the tour, you can explore spaces that are recreated to resemble the Viceroyal era, allowing you to learn more about the daily life of its inhabitants.
It has 22 rooms showcasing pieces and objects that span from the conquest to the beginning of the Independence movement. There are paintings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, and more.
Inside the museum, you will find the temple of San Francisco Javier, one of the few in the country that remains as it was originally conceived. Higinio de Chávez and Miguel Cabrera designed the incredible altarpieces in the 18th century.
