Museo Municipal Casa de la Zacatecana
It is housed in a beautiful historical building dating back to the 17th century.
Over the years, this property has had various uses such as a residential house, school, house of culture, and now it has been transformed into a beautiful museum.
It is one of the most famous houses in Querétaro and is full of legends. It is said to have been occupied by a woman from Zacatecas who ordered the killing of her husband, then killed his murderer, and buried both of them in the stables. However, shortly after, she died mysteriously as well. Due to this eerie legend, it is believed that the souls of these deceased individuals wander through the corridors of what is now a museum.
The museum has eleven carefully restored rooms that showcase a rich collection of viceregal and 19th-century paintings, exquisite furniture, decorative items, and everyday objects from different eras.
Notable features include beautiful chandeliers, soup tureens from the Indies Company, Louis XVI-style furniture, a 19th-century organ, Chinese vases, paintings by Miguel Cabrera, and various Bristol crystal pieces, among many others.
Presentations and concerts are held in the courtyards adorned with additional artworks.
