It is located in the old San Juan College, a beautiful architectural gem from the mid-19th century.

The museum exhibits approximately 1,550 specimens of Mexico's most exotic birds, representing about 70 percent of the country's bird species.

The specimens are displayed in four rooms organized by themes in niches, dioramas, and showcases.
