Museo de la Memoria
The Memory Museum is housed in a 16th-century house remodeled in the 19th century.
It is a modern interactive museum that takes visitors on a journey through the history of Tlaxcala from 1521 to the late 18th century.
It covers historical events such as the indigenous self-government in the early colonial period, the beginning of mestizaje (racial mixing), the fusion of indigenous and Spanish cultures, the tlacuilos (painters) and their colonial codices, and the colonization of northern Mexico by Tlaxcalan families.
The museum exhibition showcases images, objects, reproductions of documents, paintings, textiles, and other forms of everyday expression.
The museum features a bookstore with specialized titles on the history and culture of the State of Tlaxcala, as well as a temporary exhibition hall.
