Museo de la Ciudad (City Museum)
The City Museum is located in the building that was constructed as the headquarters of the Convent of San José de Gracia de Señoras Pobres de las Madres Capuchinas, founded in 1721.
The convent served as a prison for Maximilian of Habsburg, who left here on July 19, 1867, to be executed on Cerro de las Campanas.
The museum aims to promote contemporary art and has 19 exhibition halls. It has been a venue for painting, photography, and sculpture exhibitions, as well as theater plays, dance performances, music recitals, among other intellectual activities.
It features a children's library with a monthly program of playful activities designed for the cultural stimulation of children.
