Museo de la Caricatura, Real Colegio de Cristo

A sober 17th-century building that housed the Royal College of Christ.

This was done according to the will of Don Cristóbal Vargas Valadez, a nobleman who decided that his assets should be destined for Christian education.

In the 18th century, it came into the hands of the Jesuits, and when they were expelled, it had various uses.

This building was the headquarters of a school where young people were sponsored by Don Cristóbal Vargas de Valdés.

The building was restored, and in 1987, the Caricature Museum was inaugurated inside.

On the first floor, it houses the Mexican Plastic Arts Hall, displaying graphic material from 1840 to the present day.

It showcases works by important cartoonists such as Rius, Luis Javier, Naranjo, and Helioflores.

Its exhibition is divided into four themes: Caricature in Independent Mexico (1826-1876), Satire in the Porfiriato era (1876-1911), Caricature of the Revolution, Caudillismo, and the Maximato (1911-1934), and Humorous Critique by Sexenios (1934 to the present).

It also has space to host temporary exhibitions.

The museum offers drawing, painting, and cartoon workshops for children and adults.
