Museo de Historia Natural y Cultura Ambiental

Built with concrete domes that create circular spaces for each of its ten rooms.

Addresses topics such as astronomy, biology, geography, and the evolution of the universe and human beings.

It features interesting models of diverse natural environments. One of its main attractions is an extensive collection of insects.

Integrated into the museum is the Museo del Cárcamo de Dolores (Dolores Pumping Station Museum), inaugurated in 1951 to commemorate the works of the Lerma System in the Second Section of Chapultepec Forest.

The work is the result of the joint efforts of architect Ricardo Rivas, engineer Eduardo Molina Arévalo, and artist Diego Rivera.

It consists of a mural of over 200 square meters painted by Diego Rivera. In its early years, it was submerged in water, which gave it a very special effect. However, starting in 1992, the materials began to deteriorate, and a restoration was necessary.

This part of the museum functions as an interactive room that aims to raise awareness about environmental culture.

A notable feature of the complex is the marvelous Tláloc Fountain, which showcases a huge sculpture of the Mexica god emerging from the water.
