Museo de Artes e Industrias Populares de Pátzcuaro
The Museum of Popular Arts is located in the College of San Nicolás Obispo, dating back to 1540.
However, it has undergone various modifications, so most of what is currently preserved dates from the 18th century.
The single-story building distributes its spaces around two large courtyards.
It has a permanent exhibition of works by Purépecha artisans, but representations from nearly 50 towns in the region are also showcased to display their incredible craftsmanship.
There are pieces of pottery, copperware, stone carvings, woodwork, maque or lacquer from Uruapan and Quiroga, and gold from Pátzcuaro, to name a few.
