Misión de San Juan Bautista Londó

The construction of this mission began in the year 1683.

It is attributed to Father Kino; however, he did not have time to see it completed.

In 1699, Father Juan María de Salvatierra attempted to continue with the construction of the mission; however, a rebellion by the natives delayed the evangelizing work. After some time, the missionary managed to overcome the conflicts and convert almost all the inhabitants of the region, thus enabling him to continue with the reconstruction of the mission. However, it was never completed.

As a result, in practice, for the missionaries, it became just a small chapel dependent on the Mission of Our Lady of Loreto and was abandoned in the year 1745.

Currently, only a few ruins of the mission can be seen.

Location
