It was built on the foundations of a previous church dating back to the 16th century.

The current church dates from 1767 and represents the most significant architectural undertaking in 18th-century Puebla.

The decorative variety of this church may be due to its different construction stages, influenced by the aesthetic elements of other notable buildings from that period. It has a beautiful white façade with two towers that continue the decoration with stiped pilasters. In the center of the façade, you can still appreciate the coat of arms of the Society of Jesus, consisting of a crown of vine and laurel branches.

Its dome has a square base and is considered the best work of its kind from the 18th century.

It has three doors that make up the grand porch, with wrought iron grilles and five arches, with the central arch standing out in the shape of a clover.

The sacristy is notable for being decorated with large canvases from the late 17th century and its marquetry in the Mudéjar tradition.

The remains of the famous "China Poblana," a 17th-century character, rest in this church.
