Hospital del Divino Salvador
The Hospital of the Divine Savior is an historic building that formerly housed one of the most important charity institutions of the colonial era, the Hospital for Mentally Ill Women.
The origin of this institution lies in the house of the carpenter José Sayago, who, along with his wife, dedicated themselves to sheltering mentally ill women who wandered the streets, taking them to their own home to care for them.Â
Later, the hospital came under the Congregation of the Divine Savior, and the plot of land where the current building stands was acquired.Â
The building has undergone several renovations. Only its two entrances remain from the original structure. The building is currently occupied by the Secretariat of Health.Â
