Ex Convento del Desierto de los Leones (Museo Bicentenario)
It's a beautiful monastery built by the Discalced Carmelites in the 17th century.
Initially, it was named the Holy Desert of Our Lady of Carmen of the Montes de Santa Fe.
The convent is surrounded by beautiful and colorful gardens within the ecological reserve of the same name.
From the enormous complex, the cells, oratories, church, and underground tunnels can be visited through guided tours.
The Chapel of Secrets can also be visited, which stands out for its magnificent acoustics due to the construction of its dome.
Events such as concerts, exhibitions, weddings, etc., are held here.
It has a restaurant with excellent cuisine and the Bicentennial Museum, where cultural and artistic exhibitions can be appreciated, as well as some taxidermy animals displaying the local fauna, park models, and photographs.
Outside the premises, there are picnic tables, grills, and playgrounds. Additionally, a variety of Mexican food and crafts can be enjoyed.
The Cuajimalpa delegation organizes the "Nocturnal Legends of the Desierto de los Leones" tour every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 8:30 PM. The tour features actors dressed as monks who depict convent life and share legends about the place.
