Ex Convento de San Juan Bautista de Yecapixtla

This cultural heritage site was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1994.

Construction began in 1535 and was completed in 1541 by the Augustinians. It's one of the grand complexes resembling a fortress.

Its facade features Gothic and Renaissance elements, while the atrium houses four side chapels.

The Gothic rose window adorning the entrance is considered one of the distinctive emblems of the convents in Morelos. The carved stone pulpit and the ceiling's rib vaults are also noteworthy for their marvelous craftsmanship.

Inside the cloister, you can observe beautiful mural paintings of great artistic quality.

It is one of the fourteen convents in Morelos declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Yecapixtla is known as the capital of cecina (dried meat), so take the opportunity to savor this regional dish.
