It is also known as the Temple of the Immaculate Conception and Cueva.
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Conception was built between 1724 and 1728. It has a Latin cross plan with a transept where the dome is located.
The atrium is adorned with two concrete fountains displaying a baroque style.
The building is of Renaissance type and has two towers, each with three levels, housing four bells. On the façade, you can distinguish several feline heads and a clock flanked by two angels.
It is distinguished by its beautiful stained glass windows, and if you look up, you will see more than 130 angels decorating the church.
In addition, its beautiful confessionals are made of cedar wood, and the remains of several bishops are located in its vaults.
In the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, sacred ornaments are displayed along with a monumental custodial weighing 50 kg and measuring 1.70 m.
The cathedral is also known as La Cueva (The Cave) because the virgin was found here, and her celebration takes place on December 8th.
